Been looking through the reviews of Watchmen which I will be seeing with a group of similar-minded friends tomorrow.

Now I'm not a huge comic book fan but my intro to them was when in response to my vague questions a friend of mine handed me 'The Dark Knight', 'The Longbow Hunters', and 'Watchmen'.
I'm not sure I slept all weekend. So I'm pretty close to the target audience on this one.

But I've noticed something rather interesting about the reviews.

In general there seems to be a HUGE disconnect between online reviewers and those from more 'traditional' media. Most of the online reviews are excellent, and the mainstream ones (with the exception of Roger Ebert) are pretty tepid.

Also I've not seen a single 'traditional' print review that did not include a reference to Dr. Manhattan's glowy blue penis. Not sure what it means that the 'nerds' seem to be more mature about it than the 'norms', or what it says about their comfort levels.

(Frankly I am uninterested in said appendage, because I've always thought Dr. Manhattan was pretty much of a dick anyway.)
