on the road again

so far so good

I've made it as far as about 20 miles short of Syracuse. Pepper and I are sitting on the floor on the service area = I'm having a protein smoothie because I'm still too shaky to want to eat much. The lady at the counter gave Pepper a bit of frozen banana for me.

This being able to post my progress is really helping me stay a bit more grounded. I'm hundreds of miles from home and all alone, only I'm not. Please comment with a "hey - thinking about you" if you can - it means the world to me right now. Also i have my cellphone off but check it at stops - text messages of "hang in there" would be most welcome.

I'm still leaking tears at random intervals and get cold sweats but it's all expressway from here which I'm hoping will be easier.I've NEVER been in anything more than a fender bender when I was driving, and even as a passenger it's been more than 20 years, so this sort of trauma is all new to me. I;m working through it and it's hard for me to ask for helo like this, but I need it.

well actually i'm about 20 miles east still but i'm almost out of NY and out of my first tank of gas which is a milestone - it's a 2-fill-up trip so I know I/m making progress.

Your texts and messages mean the world to me and I'm more grateful than I have words for - please keep them coming,

under ordinary circumstances I could have made the drive straight to Chicago with a nice rest the next day, but these aren't ordinary circumstances.

I can't express how much the texts and messages have meant to me on this - I'd be fine for a while and then i'd be leaking tears and shaking.

So - for those who want to know, here is the writeup I did the next day - I was having trouble sleeping so I figured i'd get it down on paper to try and get it out of my system. I was sitting in teh car in the campground in the rain with my laptop - I'm posting it in one big lump so keep in mind this was written just over 24 hours after the accident and 8 hours after the car situation was resolved, so forgive any weird tenses.
