Sep. 11th, 2009 11:43 amEight years ago something terrible happened.
I'm from northern NJ and could see the Towers from my street growing up. I was evacuated from my office building that day because it was across the street from the Sears Tower. My brother's former office building was used as a temporary morgue. I was in the airports minutes after they opened that week because I was in the middle of a run at KCRF.
I observed a moment of silence this morning, and think a lot about the first responders and what they went through (and many still go through).
But personally I have begun the process of putting it all behind me now.
This is not to say that anyone should be embaressed to do what you need to do to get through this day - whether it means going to church, taking time to give back in service, or writing about your feelings and experiences.
It was terrible and awful but you know - I'm still alive and it's a lovely sunny day and while it does make me reflect on my good fortune I want to walk in the sunlight again.
