Nov. 2nd, 2009
Been pretty busy just getting stuff done, so nothing really to write about.
Last Windycon meeting was yesterday. Took me 2 hours even WITH a ride part of the way to ask one person two questions and say "Everything is ready". At least there was tea.
Wore my new Backpack Time Machine on Saturday. It was great, except that all the cheater ways I attached things to my belt at the last minute failed me. Guess I need to go back and actually sew the silly things. Blergh.
I'm most of the way through re-working the Mother Morphia Glove - mostly pulling parts off and replacing with similar-but-better-executed parts. Will get that finished this week, but tonight is laundry.
Going to get my H1N1 shot tomorrow. City Clinic at Truman College. Had to wait till I was off the Cefdinir for the lung ick. I'll bring a nice long book.
Have to make time to have a chat with Stupid-Boiler-Man, as he has taken to calling the property manager EVERY NIGHT to complain about the noise from the heating system. The boiler is fine - I suspect that someone doesn't have their valve adjusted properly and that's what's causing the banging. And that's in someone's unit so the association can't really do anything anyway. I handed out a "Steam Heat For Dummies" sheet which should help some, but not if it's in the unit under foreclosure that we don't have posession of yet.
Yay for half-price bags of candy corn. Boo for eating then entire bag by yourself. (urp)

Crazy Unit Owner is still convinced that the boiler is "gonna explode" (despite the TWO licensed contractors we have hired who insist that it isn't), and while he hasn't turned anything off recently, he now seems to think that he needs to "drain the boiler" twice a week! He's also been calling the property manager every day, sometimes twice!
I went to talk to him this evening, and he don't listen to anything I say. I tried to hand him the "Steam Radiators For Dummies" handout, so I could point out that 1) the noise he is hearing is probably coming from inside someone's unit because they haven't got their valves adjusted right and 2) we're doing what we can to address that by handing out this flyer.
He's still insistent that there is a problem, and said he's going to withhold his assessment unless we "fix" this imaginary problem. Yeah - that's gonna go well....
I posted a sign on the boiler that reads "WARNING - No one is to adjust, modify, or tamper with this system without the express permission of the Board of Governors of the Clark Wallen Condo Association. This unit has been serviced by licensed technicians, and any unauthorized “maintenance” may result in additional costs to the Association. Violators are subject to fines and/or legal action to recover these costs."
So tomorrow I have to find out who writes the first letter - me or the attorney. Probably me, with a bonus Opinion letter from the attorney, so that we can start collecting paperwork when we have to send this twit to collections.
