I'm still President.
I had decided that I was not going to stand for another term of office on the condo board this time. I pissed off a lot of people this last year or two, and I thought it was time for people with actual, what is it called again...oh yeah, tact...to have a turn. We had a new owner who wanted to run, and I was going to throw my support behind him.
Except he didn't show up at the meeting tonight.
In fact, hardly ANYONE showed up at the meeting tonight.
None of the 'Angry Eastern European Mens' Club' - the ones who tried to toss my ass out of office back in June - none of them showed up.
Neither of the two newest unit owners showed up - including the one who was actively seeking office. We had a 30% turnout - which is better than the last few Chicago elections when you get right down to it.
So it was the existing board and one more woman who is likely selling her unit in the coming year so SHE can't in good conscience stand for office. Which leaves the existing board looking at each other going "well, ummm - guess it's us again".
We did it all nice and legal, with written ballots from the people who were there, on file and everything, so no one can say they were disenfranchised. And I packed up the files and brought them back home, then got the dryer keys from one of the other board members and went down and fixed the stuck dryer coin slots.
So, um...yeah. Still President.
