Time...it's kind of bumpy...
Apr. 21st, 2011 10:33 amI got to see the first two episodes of the coming season of Doctor Who last night.
BBC America held promo events in NYC and Chicago, and I managed to score a ticket. It was kind of entertaining - the people running the promo clearly had no idea what it was about or what they were in for, and they were baffled when the first guy showed up at noon for the 9:30PLM show. By 6 when I got there the crowd had outgrown the tiny corral they set aside for us, and by the listed check-in time at 8:15 the line went around the atrium. It SAID on the confirmation e-mail "getting on the RSVP list does not guarantee a seat so get there early". Luckily the crowd was laid back enough that the utter lack of organizational skills on the part of the promoters wasn't much of a problem, as we pretty much organized ourselves when it came down to it.
I 'm pretty sure I can talk about this without any real spoilers for anything that is not already shown in the various trailers that have been released. Still, if you are really wanting to avoid anything that might in any way resemble advance notice,( I'll put this behind a cut )
Of course, now from MY point in time, I have to wait more than three weeks for a new (to me) episode. I think somehow Steven Moffett would approve.
