Why have my USB ports stopped working?
They worked last week!
I've not been able to synch my Palm up since the 6th but wasn't too worried about it. But now I checked everything and it's all connected where it ought to be, and I even switched devices around from one port to the other (I have two). Still nuthin. I can't add stuffs to my MP3 player and I can't synch my Palm.
Help Mee!!!

Date: 2006-03-17 02:54 am (UTC)I'm only guessing that this may be whats wrong, more information would be helpful like what version of windows your running (assuming your running windows) 98 98se NT 2000 XP XPsp2? what devices are and are not working, do you have any devices that charge by the usb ports and are they infact charging or lighting up? (possible dead usb ports)
everytime I've seen windows go from one day a usb device was working to all of a sudde it's not and hardware has been verified ok it's been a simple matter of making windows "forget" that the device had ever been assiociated with the computer (yes this can be the usb ports themselves) and then reinstall of the device.
sorry about such a long reply but I'm trying to cover all the angles so as to not make a bad situation worse.

Thankls again for the help - I'm a pretty good end-user, and can often get myself re-oriented with a poke in the right direction.

Date: 2006-03-17 11:58 am (UTC)I had re-installed windows some months ago and lost usb ports. Then I had acquired svl devices like the camera and needed to figure it out. I did. I'll try to write it out for you.
