the loved my work and hated me.

"some people" said I was "hard to get along with". I pointed out that I had no direct supervisor for most of my time there, and as such received no guidance or direction at all about any "problems". They agreed that that was a fair point but that I was still out. I wrote a note to that effect on my Eval and Exit forms.

Still makes me feel like mildew, though.

So here I am again. No job, no prospects, and an increasing number of short term jobs that are going to make it harder and harder to find a real one.

A favor? I know this is going to send me into a major depression, so I'm going to need a little help. Anyone doing fun cheap stuff or who is willing to have video company or something, please call me. I tend to withdraw when I'm depressed, and that is not good for me. Dragging me out of my apartment would be appreciated - even if I struggle.

I totally agree with [livejournal.com profile] capi, hon -- it's not your problem. It's not something wrong with you -- if you hadn't had to pester people for the information to do your effing job, things would probably have turned out differently.

I'll lay you money right now the next person to do that job gets fired for one of two reasons -- either the same as you, or "incompetence" because he/she/it *didn't* pester people for the information they needed.

I do feel for you about the shiny NU degree...at this point my post-grad history looks like this: '89 - '91, copywriter for the Home Shopping Network; '92 - '00, various positions in Mudano Associates Architects, Inc. (please pay no attention to the fact that the company name is the same as my unmarried name!); unemployed from '00 - '06.

Robin going back into traditional school means that my time should be free enough to get at least a part time job (taking care of Dad still being a major priority), but what can I get with a history like this? Gods forbid they actually ask me what my major was!

I do feel for you about the shiny NU degree.

and I get asked at interviews "Why does a Northwestern graduate want to work as a secretary?"

Ummm - 'cuz my landlord really likes it when I pay my rent?
'cuz I like food?

You at least can say "I took time off to care for my father", which is not only reasonable, nowadays it's downright hip!
