Hello from the Columbus Airport!

Another Marcon has come and gone. As usual, a good time was had by pretty much all. The good things mostly outweighed the bad. I got to reconnect with some of the OH/MI Wenches and it was good to see the Kentucky boys again. (I seem to have a weakness for SJ-MIBs). Once again, I am being pressured to come down to Conglo. We'll see...

We did not win Iron Costumer but we were the clear choice for Best Use of the Secret Ingredient. (Primary - vhs tapes Secondary - ugly bridesmaids dress). Masquerade had a lot of technical problems but there was a very deep field of Novices - 15! There were several entries that I went up to later and told them that in any normal masquerade they would have been in the running for best in class but there was just SO much talent there this time. Only 3 Journeymen and no Master entries - and a Novice entry won Best in Show!

Got too little sleep, drank too much, and generally enjoyed myself immensely. I will write in more detail once I am home and not being charged by the minute for Net Access.

Oh? Which MiB is it this time?

None of your beeswax!

Did I mention I'm a MIB? 8-)

I Understand the MiB, but that's the SJ variant?

[identity profile] captaingeek.livejournal.com 2006-05-28 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The SJ variant is the Men In black who run games and demo for Steve Jackson Games. We can be found at many cons running various Steve Jackson Games products. In fact I will be at Duckon in two weeks doing just that.

what he said.

Seems like that last few major convention flirt-fests I've gotten into have been with gamer-boyz. At least they're smart...

[identity profile] jayene.livejournal.com 2006-05-29 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
mmm now larpers... there you get the gamer guys with the ren guy qualities... and most have wonderful costume/ fashin sense... I am converted. ;)

[identity profile] captaingeek.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, NOW I really need to get some costuming. 8-)

[identity profile] wendyzski.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, i find Larpers have NO fashion sense. Ren-guys are willing to listen to the women who say things like "kilts are hot!" or "I wanna see you in tights"

[identity profile] captaingeek.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Utilikilts came up in conversation at work hursday. If I had the couple of hundred buck to get one, I might. 8-)

NO ONE wants to see me in tights. That's why Captain Geek's costume is jeans and a t-shirt. 8-)

Although if Who Wants To Be A superhero comes to Chicago....

[identity profile] jayene.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
mmm haven't met the ones I know then... all I have to say is black velvet. {goofy grin} and we have the usually number in kilts and a few in tights...

[identity profile] wendyzski.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
BTW - I've got a friend from Milwaukee who will be down in Columbus for Origins at the end of the month. He might be looking to check out the local BDSM scene while he's there. Any referrals? He's petronivs on my F-list

[identity profile] petronivs.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
How about jewelry? Nothing's sexier than cascades of shiny stainless steel down the body...

[identity profile] petronivs.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
LARPers have wonderful fashion sense?

People have mistaken me for a LARPer--that should tell you something. Of course, they've also mistaken me for a goth, an axe murderer, a mental hospital fugitive, and other things. Really, though, I'm just a humble gamer.

[identity profile] wendyzski.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
You're not a 'humble' anything.

[identity profile] petronivs.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ha!

I'm the most humble person you've ever met, beeatch!

[identity profile] that-david.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hell must be experiencing a cold-snap if gamers are the fad now. And me not in the midwest to take advantage of that. *Sigh*

[identity profile] wendyzski.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Strange, isn't it?
I've also noticed that a higher percentage of them know how to bathe than I remember from college.

[identity profile] that-david.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Probably the result of (not so) patient application of multiple clue-by-fours over the years by those of us who like to breath while in the gaming rooms.

Baycon actually hands out ribbons that read "Washed Masses" to those that bathe on a daily basis. Along with a ribbon that reads "Highly Caffeinated" for those with low levels of blood in the caffeine stream.
