I can see thru my bookcase!

Well, after packing up more than 10 boxes of books, I should bloody hope so!
Of course, when you have a bookcase the size of a queen-sized mattress and both sides are pretty much filled (the paperbacks in 2 layers), that means a LOT of books. I think this is where I'll call it for now - I still have 2 months to go, and I'll need SOMETHING to read!
Labeliing was the boxes was fun:
History - General and Medieval
History - Elizabethan
History - Victorian & misc.
History - pirates & doxies (cuz I wasn't gonna write "whores" on the side of a moving box)
The wine-bottle boxes from the liquor store are just about right for packing books. They are pretty sturdy, and of a size that they are still liftable when full of hardcovers.
I am still coughing but not nearly as much as on Saturday - of course, that may be the dust I stirred up! Mostly just an occasional tightness in the chest.
Cross your fingers and toes for us - we're negotiating for an actual local gig that would be awesome - can't tell details yet but as soon as we know something.

Date: 2006-06-20 02:23 am (UTC)When I moved I had 20 boxes. Probably because I cannot bear to get rid of any books. I'm not going to be a cat-lady i'm going to be a book lady
Good luck with the gig!!!!

Date: 2006-06-20 03:27 am (UTC)It'll probably be close to 20 when I count the books I have left out and the sewing books still in the studio. This will be pretty much it for the book stuff for now. Next thing is some general cleaning and weeding stuff out. Oh - and the actual FINDING a place part of things. But with 2 gig-weekends in July and one in August and a possible guy I'd like to spend some weekend time with, I needed to start doing SOMETHING on this mess.
I wanted to start clearing the shelves with the goal to taking them down by August 1st. I'll need the shelves down in order to have room to disassemble the loft-bed. Moving could begin as early as 8/15, depending on when I can get the new place.
It's been 7 years since I moved last time.

Date: 2006-06-20 01:46 pm (UTC)Plus, I now have an actual job with actual income and a predictable commute. Looking to go up to a 1BR, want to have a place where I can get a bunny, and actually moving further away from the office could cut down my commute (because I could take express trains). So there are a couple of neighborhoods I'm looking at.
