interesting...

Was paging through 'Concious Choice' magazine (and making yet another resolution to get off my butt and start doing more yoga), I came across an interesting article.
It was about a paraplegic man who does adaptive yoga - he works with a specially-trained teacher to work within his body and what he can do.
There was a mention in a sidebar that "The benefits of yoga for people with multiple sclerosis are getting increasing recognition", and suggested a website called www.yogams.com
Since I have a couple of F-listers with MS, I thought I'd pass it along.

Date: 2006-07-28 08:07 pm (UTC)I have the mat, a strap, a cd AND a dvd of different programs, and I even admit that I never felt better physically in my life than when I was doing yoga 2x/wk. Does that motivate me...no.
I have come to realize that over the past 2 uninsured years, I have become very disconnected from my body. I think I came to see it as a source of pain and illness, and something that prevented me from being able to do things. This attitude in addition to the purely physical issues I suspect is part of the weight I gained.
I'm trying to view my upcoming move as an opportunity to start fresh and get away from some of my more negative habits and try to develop some better ones. I'll have more room - I could even start having people over instead of just sitting around with a book or the TV. I'll be walking 4 blocks to the train station, and pass within a block of a health club. Once the bunny moves in, I'll have more of an impetus to buy (and eat) veggies. I'll be 3 blocks from a nice beach/park in one direction, and 2 from a park in another. As part of the move, I'll be getting rid of a lot of unneeded clutter.
I DID manage to lose 2.5 lbs without even trying in thge first 3 weeks I was back on all my meds. That's just from feeling not-sick!
