maybe you need to move to Ohio not Michigan?
Marriage Oath In Ohio County Asks If Person Is Transsexual
(Springfield, Ohio) Couples planning to marry in Clark County, Ohio are asked if either person is transsexual. It is believed to be the only jurisdiction in the country where people are asked to swear they are not transgendered before receiving a marriage license.
Under Ohio law a person's birth gender is the only one considered legal. It does not bar transsexuals from marrying but means that a male to female transsexual can only marry a woman...
Easy-peasy!
(I love when stuff like this can come back to bite them in the ass!)

Date: 2007-01-02 07:56 pm (UTC)That was similar to what Nan had getting our license in MI - they looked long and hard at my birth cert, then had her swear to the accuracy of the information on it. Lo and behold - we're legal. I could push the issue here, but the firm's first response would be "fine - you married as a man, use the men's room, and we're changing all your ident back to 'male'; you can't have it both ways". *sigh* Michigan has to recognize it, though, because they issued it, so we're on a much stronger footing there.
Thank goodness I wasn't *born* in Ohio - at this point, even if you've had surgery, you can't change the gender marker on your birth cert or any other state ID - because of that "birth gender" thing they're stuck on.

This amuses me.
