domesticicicicity

Household appliances make me ridiculously happy.

I got a countertop dishwasher off CraigsList a couple of weeks ago for $100. Dishes have always been my least-favorite household chore, so I would let them sit in the sink and then they got really nasty which made it even less fun. But now I have sparkly glasses and silverware that isn't sticky, I can regularly see the bottom of my sink, and all without having to actually touch any grossness. I had to replace some light bulbs today so I even popped the globes into there - who knows how many years of crud came off but it's a lot brighter in my kitchen and bedroom now. I even did a little dance in my kitchen today to the rhythm of the wash cycle - while Pepper stared at me like I was insane.

Then I cleaned her litterbox, swept out her cage, and then let the Roomba deal with all the little crumbly bits while I went into the other room and read my mail. Not only do I not have to breathe in all the little dust-flecks, but it even sings a happy little song when it's done.

Yeah, I'm a dork, but a dork with a clean kitchen!

So the house is clean. What's the plan for tomorrow?

well, john and Pen both said they could bring card table and chairs, but all teh games live at your house and you didn't know if you were interested in doing something.

I'll be there. What game should I bring?

OK Pick any 3 - a board, a card, and a something of your choice.

Cool! Will do!

Roombas are awesome. My dad has the vaccum one and the mopping one. He calls the second one Mr. Piddles. I have a special family. :) My roommate leaves dishes out for a really long time. I investigate them for new lifeforms. (I am doing research on fungus, it's like a science experiment in my sink.)

I have the plain basic one that I call Big Red. Originally Pepper would hide behind behind the couch and *thump* at it, but last week she actually tried to attack it! The funniest is when I leave it out to charge and she hops up on top and accidentally turns it on! I will hear the little "I'm cleaning now" song, it will go vroom, and then thumpa-thumpa-thumpa sound of a bunny running full-tilt to go hide behind the couch!

I'm VERY allergic to mold, so the whole "science experiment in my sink" is what I'm trying to avoid.

Hey, how do you like your Roomba? Costco's got a coupon for them in a couple of weeks, and I was thinking that for $200 it might be worth it... How well does it work?

And rabbits always seem to think you're insane when you're dancing...

Well, I got the basic Roomba Red for $67 plus shipping off E-bay. It doesn't have scheduling or a docking station or anything, and that's fine. I'm not sure I'd pay $200 for one. I prefer to set the one wall and then have it do one room at a time while I go do other things. It picks up hay dust, bunny hair, and poops very well. The larger stems of hay kind of get pushed around instead. Also, while it does OK with most of my throw rugs, I do have one that has a tendancy to get sucked up inside the mechanism and jam it up.

One thing you don't get from the commercials - it's just as loud as a vacuum cleaner, so there's never any doubt when it's working.

I am also a dork. I think we might have bumped into each other at one of the local cons, unless there is another Wendy Lady out there who also runs about in Renaissance get-up.

*blush* I'm kind of memorable I guess...

Then there's me, the professional wallflower... now with super memory!

What I find hilarious is that once again I randomly found another con-goer in a cute animal community.

Must be the phase of the moon or the conjunction of the planets or something- house cleaning is The Thing To Do!

Clean is good.

Clean with less effort than usual... priceless :-)
