Yep - getting old all right.
Have to take off my glasses to thread a needle. Grr.
I'm working on a kirtle-gown-thing. It's adapted from the Tudor Tailor kirtle pattern, but modified to take advantage of sale/free fabrics and the fact that I'm a stage act so I can get away with more cheats.
Kirtle bodice is lightweight black wool from
rennie_frog's stash cleaning, and will spiral lace along the sides (so I can dress myself). I'm planning on doing the eyelets by hand - it's been a while but I think I can manage it. Interlining and lining is a black/grey plaid flannel, from the $1 table at Hancock.
The skirt will be a woven stripe that I found on the $1 table at Vague- a sort of light turquoise striped with black. I'm putting a decorative panel on the front of the bodice - mostly to make sure the boning doesn't show. (Since I plan to wear this without an overgown I need the boning for support.) It's made of the stripe fabric but with added couched vertical bits of a deep blue thread-chain and some dusty blue yarn I had lying around - it really adds some texture and color. I will probably use the blue stuffs to embellish the edges of the armholes as well, to add more texture and interest.
Hopefully I can test-wear it at Woden Thor over Memorial Day weekend so I can see if the pattern needs adjustment before I make another one or two. Since it's a 3-day gig I want to have 3 outfits that fit my currently over-padded frame. Smelling medieval is not part of my contract kthx.
Tomorrow I will be completely alone in the office all day. I have a lot to get done, but I definitely need to bring in some CDs to avoid an unscheduled afternoon snooze. I will go barefoot though.
Weekend is supposed to be pretty nice, so hopefully I will be able to try Pepper outside again. No other real plans, as I've got that unexpected dental bill coming up so I'm trying to be very frugal. I do have the Merry Measure banner to get done as well.
I need to find a pulmonologist - PerkyDoc says she is out of ideas, and wants to bump me up to a specialist. My plan says I can pick anyone, but I don't just want to pick one out of the book at random. Trouble is that the ones my doc suggested don't have anything available for nearly a month. Will have to think about that tomorrow.
