My brother and his wife are expecting. She's just around the end of her 1st trimester - they waited to tell my mom so they could do it in person this weekend at a childhood friend's wedding in NY.

I'll bet Mom is ecstatic. She was asking me when I thought they'd decide to do it when I saw her at their wedding - and the only "grandchildren" she's likely to get on my end have long ears and fur!

So there will in fact be another round of small people with a really long name.

Exactly. I'm not sure my mom finally got the idea through her head that I'm not going to have kids until I turned 40, despite the fact that I'd been telling her that since 25 or so.

I never ruled out "parenting" - adopting, or finding a guy that came with a spare. But I have pretty much always felt that my medical issues would not be fair to dump on a kid.
