I got the birthday penny you sent.

See, for all the years I knew Janet, she would always send me a birthday card with a shiny new penny in it. It would always be a penny from the current year.

I was kind of sad this morning when I thought about not getting a card from her again. (Last year her card said "I hope you really like your hairstyle - because it's a known fact that women never change their hairstyle after they turn 40")

But on the stairs at the train station this morning, there it was. A shiny 2007 penny, right in the middle of the step.

not yet - though I will at least one more time. It's just that the last time I cut it short I looked in my mirror and my mom looked back at me! I'm not quite ready for THAT yet.
