It marked not only the end of our touring season but also marked one year to the day since a couple of rather important milestones.

1)It was the last show for Minstrosity
2)It was the weekend I med [livejournal.com profile] woody_whistler, who would soon join forces with [livejournal.com profile] jcw_da_dmg and myself to form Merry Measure

What a long strange trip it's been.

Stronghold weather is traditionally cool and at least partially rainy. This weekend featured heat indexes in the 90s. Our dorm had no AC though we did have 2 dehumidifiers running which helped a lot, and which were emptied at least 3x/day. (It does, however, feature a much lower shower-to-performer ratio that any of the other facilities). Our schedule was fairly top-loaded, which allowed a nice long break in the mid-afternoon to go lie down in the comparative coolness and evaporate a bit. This was particularly useful on Sunday when a brief but strong shower struck just as I sang the part about "may the rain fall soft upon your fields". It was good for a laugh, and the sudden coolness was nice, but my psaltery case got soaked. (I did the last set without it, and brought it home carefully wrapped in a towel while the soggy case was stuffed in my bag) It's still drying on the desk.

We had 4 sets of our own plus playing for Queen [livejournal.com profile] seamstrix to dance and sitting in with the country dance musicians as well. The rest of the time was mostly spent playing catch-up with Bristolians I've not seen all season. Tips were outstanding on Saturday and as expected on Sunday. Saturday night (as the usual bonfire-and-smores wasn't terribly appealing) we had a bit of a geek-party, with Season 1 of the Muppet Show, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, and a round of Carcassone before a brief tired jam session.

Tired is a good word right now. I got nothing useful accomplished today at work, and had an awful headache by 3ish. Replaced the floor in Pepper's condo and refilled both her hay rack and the storage tub with fresh hay from the Oxbow box up top of the shelves. Poor Roomba has been working overtime, and I'm all itchy, but that's why I only tote hay around when I have to. I also knocked over the raisin container, and got most of them back up but Pepper is merrily digging about in search of the few strays. 2nd load is in the dishwasher, and I'm trying to decide if I'm energetic enough still to track down what that smell is in the fridge.

I scraped up my ankle on Sunday when a stick got up under my laces while I was demonstrating the Korabushka to the country dancers. Even with twice-daily neosporin it's doing it's damndest to get infected and it's also bruised to hell and gone. Just washed it again and then I'll tape a goopy pad over it for the night. But for the first time in 3 years I'm NOT sick coming out of Stronghold weekend. I've always figured it for a combination of mildew from the dorm and friends with germs. Maybe the meds the pulmo put me on are almost enough to do the job? I go back there next Tuesday for my 4 month follow-up.

Meh - the couch is calling my name....
