Cuz I just got mine, and if the way I feel at the moment is anything like what a REAL case of this year's bug will be... You might as well just shoot yourself now and get it over with.

Do you usually have a reaction to the influenza vaccination?

I always get a site reaction (swelling and soreness at the point of injection) and for the next 12-24 hours I have all the symptoms of a mild case of the flu while my immune system gets started processing. I'll be find in the morning, but OMG did this one hit hard.

Got mine a week ago! My employer supplies it for free, so I figure I may as well take advantage of it.

That sounds like an awfully sensible idea - Not sure why more employers don't. It's got to be cheaper than people being out for a week with the flu!

Depends how many people are out for a week with the flu. If most people who don't get a flu shot don't get the flu, the cost-benefit ratio doesn't necessarily favor subsidizing the shot.

Also, since people don't _want_ to get the flu, those who are more likely to get it are also more likely to be willing to pay for it, so their chances of being out for a week with the flu are the same whether or not the employer pays for it.
