Apprently I'm newsworthy

On the Capricon website, under "Latest News", my name is listed. Clicking the link takes you to a page that says "Wendy Zdrodowski will be attending Capricon", and shows a link to my out-of-date personal website.

Umm - Yes, I'm going. I paid my membership in December (although they only cashed my check last week). And a quick search of the programming page shows that no one has stuck me on a panel without asking (which has happened before)

WTF?

I sent a nice message to the webmaster asking why I'm newsworthy.

You may not be on a panel but you will be around in case one of your following wants to meet you. The other people on that list are authors, musicians, and a sailor. That is, "fans of some interest" that happen to be attending. If I had to take a guess*, I'd say they are using your name as a bit of inexpensive promotion. They are not paying you for the use, but then, they are not asking you to do any panels for the free publicity you get out of it either. I'd suggest you ask them to change the link to whatever your new web site is so you can at least reap the publicity bump.

*I am not currently involved with Cap so this is just a guess and in no way official policy.

I just want to make sure that no one thought I was going to be on a panel or something. This *IS* the convention that scheduled seamstrix for a panel while she was in England, on the basis of one half-remembered conversation at Windy....

I just got my "you are on these panels" email today. If you are on a panel, you would be getting an email soon. If no email, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Some of the other people mentioned have descriptions and pictures. I'd bet that they'd happily take a promo blurb if you sent it to them. And you can include in it that you are single.

Mostly I want to make sure that someone didn't think I was doing a panel or something. I can see people wanting to go to a con to see me DO something, but am less certain that the fact that I'm likely to be hanging around, drinking in the hallways, or squeeing about 'Cloverfield' would be of interest to anyone...
