To Dye For

Dharma Trading Company was having a sale on blank clothing. I like black clothes and plain jewel tones, so after a a few hours of stirring and approx $250 including shipping and dye, I have an entire new spring wardrobe of:

• "garden party dress" - rayon gauze, longish with flutter sleeves and a godet handkerchief hem - indigo blue and a nice blue/green


• rayon sleeveless dress - long-ish, 1 black plain, 1 dark green, and 1 sort of a blueish-lilac I think (it's still drying) with pintucks on front


• rayon short sleeve dress - hot purple


• short rayon ribbon-strap dress/jumper - black


• drapey rayon elastic/drawstring waist skirt - black (length to be named later, right now it's long)


• drapey rayon pants - black (like skirt above)


• 2 shelf-bra "swim" camisoles (which I think will be hefty enough for casual wear) - indig blue and dk green


• 2 short-sleeve rayon "camp" style shirts - blue/green and lilac-ish

Some came plain black, the rest I dyed. I did 3 initial baths of indigo, violet and dk green. Then I pulled and rinsed the clothes, and then I dumped the leftover indigo half and half into the leftover green and purple. Those mixes came out a bit lighter than the initial baths, but that's OK.

All will get hemmed and fitted once they are dry and have rinsed again. But all are suitablefor dressing up or down for whatever job, are washable, comfy, and in a close enough color family to all go together. Yes - I made Geranimals. Go me.

My fingers are a bit funny-colored and i might have stirring-stick blisters, but I like what resulted, and it was fun.

But now I REALLY need to clean my bathtub....

Better be careful; I hear Dharma clothes attract polar bears and make the sky turn lavender. :)
