We went off to the vet this morning. Not because of anything major or obvious but because there were a bunch of little things that could be vaguely worrisome, so I figured it's best to go.

She's only lately been accepting face-pets, but would never let me touch the right side of her face. Also, she eats her food eventually but hasn't been running to eat as quickly as usual.Turns out that she had some dental points - sticky-uppy things on her teeth that were poking her on the cheek. She has no history of them, but got them filed down and added them to the "things to check" when she goes in from now on.

Also, she has been sneezing on and off all winter, and lately her binkies have involved more head-shaking than before. Turns out that she's in the very early stages of throwing another ear infection. Not enough to need oral meds again but enough to need ear-rinses 1x/day and ear drops 2xday for the next few weeks.

Guess I'm getting good at this.

Thanks!

It was in the 'it's nothing i can put my finger on , but something isn't right' category.

It's a thing to be proud of, Wendy. When i do that with Josh, and save him (and everyone else) lots of later grief, i know i've done good. And so have you! Your instincts are on track and working! Go, you!! YAY!!

Sometimes "just not right" is a very good reason to take someone to the vet.

Good for you for figuring it out before it became a real problem!

She didn't touch her pellets and only nibbled vaguely at her veggies tonight so I think her mouth is still sore from all the poking. I mixed up some "bunny gruel" by soaking 2TBs of pellets in warm water and stirring in a teeny but of applesauce for flavor, and she nomnomnommed it right up off a paper plate. I'm hoping she'll feel better by morning.

AND butt-pluckings! Poor thing is blowing her coat something fierce. So I wrangler her and give her the drops, and then while I'm holding her in place so they can run down inside before she can shake them out, I usually grab as much loose fur as I can.
