Well I did it

I put an offer in on the #1 unit.
Since it's a short sale, the seller's bank has to approve it, but I structured the offer as strongly as I could to appeal to them. Since my agent knows the seller's agent he knows that they have had an independant valuation done on the unit in the past week, which is usually the last step before considering offers. So hopefully they will be making a decision by around the end of the month.
If this does go through, then I'd be closing August 20th (Wednesday) which will give me a week and a half overlap from my current lease - plenty of time to get the move made.
Jacob, can you e-mail me off LJ with how you liked your attorney and about how much they cost? I have csome referrals from the city as well, but wanted your input as well.
And if anyone needs an agent in Chicago, I can highly recommend mine. He listened to what I had to say and worked WITH me (contrasted with the guy that geekymary used).
And if this doesn't work out, there is another unit that has knocked my others off the short list. 1/2 block south of Devon on Bell. 10K cheaper and more space but much further away from public transit and it's a bit more worn, but it does have a washer and dryer.
So now we wait. *twitch*
