so I have a trial account at toast.net until either Ripco comes back online or I move and the dsl-oid connection gets installed. Not going to even configure the e-mail accounts - I have enough addresses to remember - but it's less than $5 for the rest of August for dial-up, which will do.

Honestly, knowing that I'm connected helps a lot.

Haven't freaked out yet.

We used Toast.net several years ago (for a short time), and they seemed to work reasonably well. Glad that you were able to get connected quickly thru them.

Do you have a Gmail account? Those can be accessed via POP3 and, since they aren't connected to any ISP, make it easier to maintain connections with people. We've never bothered with the e-mail accounts at CableOne (since we moved here) because most people know my Gmail address(es) anyway.

I have a yahoo account. I've used my ripco one for years, and it'll be a pain to switch over once the RCN gets connected. Still, it'll be nice to have a MerryMeasure address. This is the first time Ripco has been down for this long in at least a decade. I can't even get through on the PHONE
