stuff and nonsense

Happy Bouncy Bunny has fresh greens. She has celebrated this by strewing half-eaten bits all over the kitchen floor. It really IS like having a toddler sometimes - only quieter.
The title company has already paid my property taxes, AND send me a nice check for the remaining funds. (We had to get a little creative with that 3% credit in order to work around the terms of my loan program, so it went towards property taxes and then I get the rest back.) It'll mostly go on the credit card to pay off the moving and locksmithing expenses, but maybe I'll get some useful home stuff with part of it. And I filed for my homeowner's exemption for next time around.
My former landlord is contesting my deposit deductions with pictures. I can prove that about half of the things he is claiming she was notified of in the past and did nothing about. I'll have to look through my files to see if I have enough documentation to bother with it. If it's only gonna get me an extra $100 then maybe not.
I'm still on the prednisone and haven't dared to weigh myself. I'm down to twice a day on the neb as of today, so here's hoping. I'm supposed to call the pulmo office to give them an update tomorrow. I've been on 40mg/day and I plan to taper the next 2 days at 20mg unless they say otherwise. I always have a terrible time getting off this stuff.
Been running smallish errands every evening this week. Got a nightstand for $20 off craigslist last night - with 3 drawers (to keep bunny out of my yummy hand lotion and tasty books). Tonight I got fresh greens and some groceries - for me and bunny. Saturday is the big errand-day. Pepper has the vet at 9, then I have gifty cards to spend at Target and shopping to do at Sams and Jewel. Then the hardware store should have the plain brass curtain rods in so I can properly hang the bedroom curtains. I will still need to line them - they are a bit more sheer than they looked online. I guess it is true - being a homeowner never means having to say "so, what am I going to do this weekend?"
But Sunday is reserved for sleep - I'm planning a "nothing day" - I will plan to do nothing. If I later decide to do something that's ok, because I didn't PLAN it, so I don't HAVE to do it. I've had more than 2 months of "have to's" and that's enough for a while.
I handed a list of common area issues to the condo board president with my assessment, and she called to discuss them. Yeah, I know that you have lots of things to spend money on - but the fact that there is no lighting on the back porches is a huge liability issue. If there is a slip-and-fall it's coming out of the building's insurance AND since some blithering moron signed off on the porch contract without it, we'd end up invoking the board negligence policy as well. I don't want my assessments to go up because you're an idiot.
On the plus side, the creepy and annoying guy downstairs - is really the bf of the actual renter, and the owner of that unit wants him out. So not only yay not having to deal with the creep borrowing money, but I am supposed to call the board pres if I see him because the owner has told the renter that this guy isn't to be on the premises. He's been letting hookers and dealers sleep in the basement. Fun times. (I found this out because I asked about the new padlock on the part of the basement that houses my breakers, because I need access to it. I now have the code and have duly promised not to give it to anyone.)
On the negative side it looks like we'll need to replace the hot water boiler come spring. Looks like it's going to be without a special assessment but the regulars might go up a tad come the 1st of the year. The 2nd floor unit is definitely in foreclosure - i found the old doorknob on the porch and a new one with a lockbox on the door. Guess he couldn't find someone willing to pay 10k more for a missing dishwasher and lighting fixtures! At least that means there's no one to be disturbed by Pepper's late night thump-fests under my bed. But it would be a lot easier to pay for stuff if we, you know, had people actually living in the units and paying their assessments.
When did I start sounding this much like a grown-up?
