While I understand that putting a padlock on a broken back gate to our building is necessary.

But the owners should have keys. I came down 3 flights of stairs to take out my trash and had to walk completely around the building to get to the bus. That alley is too tight to get a laundry cart through, so I asked how I was supposed to get out with it this evening.

Board president says "which is more important - your laundry or your safety?" . I replied - "we can have both - just install a lock that we have keys to!"

So I get to call her to let me out and back in tonight. Oh Joy. I also asked when the next board meeting was, because while I understand that these issues need to be addressed, as an owner I should have input into them. She said she didn't know.

This is why I suspect that I'm going to end up on the board within a couple of years.

A quick look through the by laws (literally a 5 minute job) shows
1) you can't restrict access to nay common areas (like that door). While I understand it needs to be locked, it can't be without giving all owners access.
2) Board must have 3 people - I was told it has 2. Survey says - NO!
3) Board meetings are the 1st of Jan, Apr, July and Oct, and notice must be given as to location 48 hours in advance (it wasn't). All Board meetings must be open to any owner. It wasn't and they weren't.
