I did not get arrested (and I even made a cop laugh as I looked at all the officers and said "what do you think we're going to do - throw glitter at people?"

I'm tired and I'm cold, and have some mixed feelings about some of the things that were said - there were still some speakers framing things in terms of "us vs the straights" which bothered me, but there were others who made a point of thanking those who were standing there as their allies.

My arms are tired from holding up my sign, and my throat is sore from yelling. But I'm glad I went - the snarky sign got lots of pics and I did a couple of interviews for various gay-targeted websites (one in particular I cracked up when the interviewer abruptly realized mid-interview that I was straight and had to visibly switch mental gears). Since I got there early I was close to the front so my sign may be visible in crowd shots on the news. I also have no idea how many people were there because I couldn't see anything over the heads and signs. I know there were counter -protesters, but I never saw them and only vaguely heard them.

We marched around for a while, and I was far enough back that I never did find out what the route was, so I sort of followed people around for a while waving my sign and then after a while we passed the red line station so I handed someone my sign and went home.

:-) Glad to hear it went well. We weren't marching... the Dayton group kinda milled. But I am very glad I did it. From what I am hearing this is just the beginning... more protests are planned and I have my 1/21/09 call your congress day in planning. Much plotting and preparation.

According to the ch7 news, there were citations issued to the organizers because while they DID have a permit for the rally, they DIDN'T have one for the march. No wonder no one had any idea where we were going.

That's great, the 'us vs. them' attitude. Everything is so black and white that all straight people *must* be opposed to the concept of gay marriage, and all gays *must* be in favor? Because what this world really needs is more blind adherence to orthodoxy and less open mindedness.

Like I said - it seemed to mostly be from people who had been "fighting the fight" for a long time now. A lot of the other speakers made a point of welcoming us, and the "official chant" was "Gay, Straight, Black, White, Same struggle, Same fight!".

But yeah - that needs to get addressed if this is going to go anywhere. I mentioned it on a couple of "comment on this" threads I found while looking for pics.
