Painting is hard work. Mostly the climbing up and down ladders, but also the moving of furniture around and the reaching for those odd corners. It will also take twice as much time as you estimate.
If you are painting ajacent walls different colors, slop the first one over the corner a bit and then use reallt good quality painters tape to straighten the edge of the other color. I had little visible blobs of white showing at the join, and then I tried to fix it and in some cases made it worse. I'll neaten them up with a smaller brush next weekend or something.
Also, if you are a slob like me, either buy the widest possible masking tape or just plan on repainting the woodwork as well....
But I'm generally happy wth the results. Satin finish really does look like satin in that it has a diffuse sheen bit isn't glossy. I picked it because it seemed to have a good combination of coverage and scrubbability.
The dark color is a bit lighter and the light color is a lot darker than on the chip, but I can get used to that I think.
I've got all the furniture back where it belongs and the curtains hung. I'll put the various hangings and one-sheets back up tomorrow or Tuesday.
But now it's time for my 3rd shower of the day and then to bed.

Date: 2008-12-01 04:52 am (UTC)I always go with satin finish. Good balance between coverage, durability and cleanability. Also, I prefer the way light moves/reflects of satin rather than flat. I am not a huge fan of flat.
(I gave up on cleaning up the margins between the two color walls. Just kept making it worse.)
