I remember the original Yule Log on WPIX in New York. They'd run it on X-mas eve and morning for a couple of hours, with carols playing and it was simulcast ("in stereo!") on a local FM station.

I also remember my brother being totally creeped out by the hands that would appear from out-of-frame to occasionally stir the fire.

I remember it too!! I loved it, especially since we didn't have a fireplace in our NY home. We had had one in California, and I still miss it.

Me three! Channel 11 had it going all day long... To be quite honest with you though, it got me annoyed because all of my usual morning cartoons were pre-empted by a log. :)

Ah! The one on my TV is a close up of logs and fire. It seems silly, because my apartment actually has a fireplace. But I don't trust it, and currently my tree is in front of it. I usually watch the snow ones, since we never get snow here.
