Mostly the challenge this morning was the fact that no one has cleared any sidewalks yet. Well, that and the fact that the heel came off my snow boots the other day, so I'm managing in sneakers until my order gets here sometime next week.

Busses are a mess, even the plowed streets are awful because all the drains are covered so the pavement is covered with several inches of slush. At least it's fairly warm by the lake, so that's staying liquid. A bit further west we're talking sheets of ice and IDOT is telling people to stay home. All of the Metra Electric trains are not running because ice has taken down the lines.

It's supposed to stop by around noon so it shouldn't be too awful getting to gaming and then home tonight.

While it wasn't too bad for me to get in (and I heard that further north it is still bad) I would rather walk through snow than the slushy-icey-creamy crud on the streets right now. I am always afraid I'll fall on my ass and break something important!

Three blocks when it's halfway to your knees and there are no paths is exhausting.

I endorse this statement.

Good workout, though.

Wendy and I created "snow typos" today. That's when the overload of winter weather makes you typo.

At least, that's our story, and we're sticking to it.

sigh of relief, though I was only a little worried since you weren't actually driving in that mess. I was watching the news at what would have been 6am your time and it was a definite mess out there.
{{{bearhug}} love you

It's probably a good thing I woke up late and ended up staying at home. I've got laundry to do and a Mac to upgrade, anyway. Besides, I got an e-mail from my manager saying that he stayed at home (he lives in the northwest suburbs), so I didn't feel too guilty.

I wish I hadn't come in. The network went down a couple hours ago and shows no signs of coming back anytime soon.

Getting to and from my banks and breakfast this morning was unpleasant. I think my toes are still OK for now. I'm definitely in the market for a pair of shoes for winter.
