Lj makes job cuts

Except they have their math wrong and other sources say only 13 jobs cut.
Because this is LJ, there is a lot of flailing going on but no real info.

It's probably not a bad idea to periodically back up your journal ANYWAY (and see that someone is backing up your fave communities) but other than that we wait.

According to Dr. LJ, these are some decent free archving tools:
LJArchive
LJ Book - makes a big PDF and takes a while
Something that works on a Mac

Of course, with all the shrieking, these sites are probably flooded so YMMV.

I can vouch for the Mac one, for any other mac users out there- it even has an illustrated tutorial to help out with the tecnobabble. It actually is easy to use when you follow the tutorial. Python is already on the mac.

Again, no formal announcements have been made, and most of LJ-land is reacting with it's typical screaming and flailing to anything that looks like change.

Backups are never a bad thing to have, and here are some ways to do it just in case you want to.

On the one hand, I have to agree - LJ has said nothing about job cuts. It could be just a rumor mill.

On the other hand, it's never a bad thing to have backups.

Thanks for the link to "something that works on a Mac". I guess I've got a (hopefully brief) project for tonight.

If only it was iJournal and automagically backed up to MobileMe and Time Machine. :-)
