Um... This was old news when James had HIS MMR 14 years ago...
The problem is, the scare was given HUGE publicity, and we are now suffering the consequences. Kids his age are getting measles, mumps, and rubella, and they are all more serious for teens and adults that they usually are for kids.
The scare got huge publicity over here as well, but this didn't. I know some people who are very anti-vaccination based on anecdotal "evidence" and it drives me nuts. So I posted it here in hopes that it can trickle out to a few more people.
I KNOW that parents of autistic children want something or someone to blame, but as someone with an impaired immune system I'm likely to be one of the first ones that gets sick when the "herd immunity" is compromised.
Same here! It's just so STUPID not to get it done. The risks of permanent damage from the diseases is FAR greater than the risks from the MMR, EVEN IF YOU FACTORED IN THE TOTALLY SPURIOUS DATA FROM THE DISCREDITED STUDY!
(Wanders off, grinding teeth... )
James also had a BCG (TB), as two grandparents and I had had TB... Mine was totally symptomless, but I have the antibodies... Probably from Malta days.
10 years ago, we stopped going to the local Autism group meetings because everyone was so up-in-arms about the horrors of vaccination, they couldn't deal with day-to-day problems we were hoping to find help with. Then again, we had a definite cause (genetic), while others were still groping for answers. {{{hugs}}}
