taking steps

Resume updated, references and recommendations requested on LinkedIn, and sent the resume to some listings in there. More tomorrow. Sigh.

Cover letter basically says that while my title and salary have remained the same, my actual duties have changed drastically and I believe that it is time to look for a new environment and new challenges.

My online presence has a decidedly personal flavor but nothing embarassing - I list the International Wenches Guild on my resume for goodness sake! (And often get asked about it as well)

And so it begins...

Somehow I am not surprised.

I'm not either. But life is too short to work for a jerk.

I once wrote a resignation letter that gave no reason for my rapid exit to unemployment. I didn't think the head master would appreciate having it in writing that I'd resigned because his management style (or total lack of management, to be precise) and the bullying tactics of some of his 'management team' had stressed me to the point of being ill and this was why I'd needed two months off with stress related illness right at the START of the academic year! School started on the first day of term, but I walked out of the house in the clothes I stood up in and with my wallet, and I STILL don't know how I ended up in Bromley, in tears, phoning my sister. I believe there was a walk and a train involved. I left the house at 4 am.

Very scary. No-one needs a stressful boss, especially when the job itself can be 'challenging'.

Good luck!! You should get a recommendation from the management of one of the cons you've worked. THAT's a herding-cats type of job and showcases your organizational skills!

I think, really, I was more surprised that his not accepting your resignation worked than that this happened now. Speaking of which, you should probably be prepared for him trying that technique again.

Fool me once....

Before I was looking for a job because I was pretty sure they were preparing to fire me. That changed, and I was OK with that.

However, now I know I'm in no danger of that, but it's my choice. The last few days of actual red-faced arm-waving and foot-stamping tantrums with bonus profanity have been the final straw. Every contractor we have dealt with on this move has said to me "Wow, I don't know how you manage to put up with that". Then I thought about it, and decided that there isn't any reason any more to do so.

The marketing manager left last month.

I hope that LinkedIn can help you
