I was reminded that it's been a while since I posted any PepperBunny stories, so here goes.

Pepper is just like a toddler and thinks the world revolves around her and is repsonsible for all her problems - like The Lemon Incident. (short version - she stole a lemon from the grocery bag, took a big bite out of it, and then THUMPED at, apparently for being sour)

We hada similar incident over the weekend. She decided she wanted to investigate the piles of stuff on the Poang chair, so she hopped up to it. However, thet were piles of slippery stuff so there was scrabbling and flailing and PLUMF on her furry bum. Instead of the usual composure-grooming, the bunny equivalent of that cat "I meant to do that" look, she turned right around and THUMPED at the chair! How DARE it be slippery and unaccomodating!

Many rabbits are 'food-motivated', but Pepper leaves them all in the shade. I found a cup under the couch that I had left on the couch after eating homemade sherbert out of it. The inside was still sticky, and now there was black fur stuck in it! Apparently she dragged it off the couch to enjoy in privacy, and then stuck her head inside. It's been a couple of days and the fur on her head is STILL a little stiff.

I got home last night to find that she had somehow gotten up onto the middle shelf of the kitchen shelving unit, had chewed a hole in the bag of pellets, and was sitting there with her head in the bag munching away. She leaped off when she heard/saw me come in. THEN to add insolence to injury, she immediately went into her "YAY SALAD" dance, where she runs around my feet and tried to convince me that she is obsolutely STARVING. Sorry kid, it's a little less effective when you're still chewing your ill-gotten gains...

She remains reasonably healthy - she is still prone to sneezies and the occasional damp nosie, but I really only have to treat her in the stinky-box (nebulizer chamber) once every 2-3 months. For a chronic pasteurella bun like her that's pretty much the best we can hope for.

She's so damn cute!

Once her molt is done, we can try to find time for me to come visit again!

Oh, the buns.

Rabbits are absolutely like toddlers. That's the one observation that I made with Punker pretty early on - the world revolves around her and she doesn't quite understand why things don't always go her way.

Punker does get this amusing look of disappointment when she finds out your eating something she doesn't want. Last night, I sat down at the coffee table with a piping hot plate of sweet potato casserole with a side of turkey sausage. She did her best to get her face as close as possible to the potential treat, only to place her two paws on my leg, staring accusingly at me with her beady eyes.

Her newest habit is going into the bookcase that serves as a mini-pantry and find boxes that smell good. She dumped a bunch of canned tuna on top of herself while trying to get at the Annie's Mac and Cheese. Needless to say, it's been rearranged for her safety and she's much less interested in canned pinto beans and salad dressing.

stealthbunny had a rabbit that did that to all of her housemates and successfully convinced them all that they were the only ones remembering to feed the poor starving thing. Luckily she stayed home one day and heard all - before they wondered why they had a 15 lb rabbit!
