Just keep swimmin...

Took Pepper to the vet yesterday - she's down about half a pound, and when you only weigh 6 lbs that 's a lot! She gets more pellets and some alfalfa with her timothy hay until she puts it back on. Two probable causes for it - the found some tooth points and ground them down, but also probably some from the pasteurella. Like when you have a cold and you're so stuffed up that nothing tastes right? She probably feels the same when she has a flare-up.

Crunched the numbers from unemployment and it doesn't look good. But I will be eligible for food stamps which should help a lot. you can apply for them online too now. I've got everything paid for now - including December assessment - and enough to stock up at Sams Club but come December it's going to be really tight around here.

Still playing The HumanThermostat at least until Tuesday when the new new water feeder can be installed. Have to draft a letter to the old heating company explaining which bills we're not paying and why.

Once I'm done with the Sams Club stuff I'll start on the major cleaning around here - I think the kitchen first.

Someone posted that WalMart has turkeys for .40/lb natinally until Thanksgiving. Do you have one near you?

no but I can certainly go find one! My monthly bus pass just reset before the job went poof so I have unlimited transit until early Dec.

Normally I have my New Years Turkey - that's teh one I buy after Xmas when they go on sale, and roast up for the freezer and a couple of gallons of turkey soup.

Turkey is so useful this way... I tend to buy one in the post Christmas sale and we have it either at Easter or if friends come to stay in the cold, lean days of February.

I'm roasting two chickens this afternoon. They will make Roast Chook for today, re-visited roast chook on Tuesday, several sandwiches for packed lunches, Blamanger of chook on Friday, and gallons of leek & potato soup for next Saturday and to go in the freezer as emergency rations.

See today's post - I roasted up 2 on-sale chickens and have various forms of meat in the freezer and a stockpot of soup cooling in the fridge

I'm sure I missed you online today - it was one of those days when everytime I sat down to start something, something ELSE interrupted me. Thus to say, nothing got done, other than fuss at the cats. Smidgie loves the baby food, which means that Noxie thinks she is TERRIBLY DEPRIVED WOE! And then of course, Smidgie wants Nox's food, so she is TERRIBLY DEPRIVED WOE! And I can't leave kibble out for free feeding, so they are both TERRIBLY DEPRIVED WOE! I have a lot of crying going on, and Nox was walking all over me all night. She finally comes up on the bed and it's to stomp all over me. BUT no one has barfed in 36 hours!

It's the little things, you know? Nox is sitting on my shoulder as I type and purring and rubbing her face against mine. It would be so endearing, if I didn't know she just wants more food.

Poor moglets!

Ours wanted DAD! TURN THE RAIN OFF! last night: Cornflake looked like he might explode! I swear he was several pounds lighter ans well as back to his normal lean svelt look this morning!

But they'd both rather explode than use kitty litter!

Just curious. Did you apply for food stamps online? I did over 2 weeks ago, and haven't gotten an email, call, letter, or anything about it. Tried calling, and they won't pick up the phone, voicemail is full, and all that. I'd like to know what's up with that.

I applied online and was notified that I qualify for expedited interview status, so I got my letter in 2 days.
