Rumors are flying in diplomatic circles around the globe. No one is exactly certain just what is going on, but considerable interest seems centered around the upcoming voyage of Lord Bobbins' new submersible boat, the HMS Trident. Join us as we voyage into adventure with Teslacon II - 20,000 Leagues Under The Aether!
Teslacon II will take place November 18-20th 2011 at the Sheraton in Madison Wisconsin. We are looking for a total of 8 actors to play characters in the interactive mystery portion of the convention, which will be directed by Wendy Zdrodowski and Bill Dunbar. Performers will be expected to remain in character throughout the weekend, participating in scripted scenes as well as extensive improvised interaction with the other passengers. In return, performers will be provided with memberships to the convention, shared hotel rooms, and some meals.
Performers must commit to be on site from the morning of Friday the 18th until at least 4PM on Sunday the 20th. They must also commit to two in-person rehearsal/workshops to be held in the Chicago area. These will be held on weekend afternoons - one in April and the last in mid-October. Additional meets may be necessary, but can be scheduled at the convenience of the performers involved.
The ideal candidates will have extensive improvisational experience, have done some work in a scenario or semi-scripted event, and a basic familiarity with the genre of Steampunk. If you are capable of working in a suitable dialect, please be sure let us know, as many of the characters will be agents of the Global Powers of the period (1880s with a fantasy spin). Having access to costume pieces and/or suitable props is helpful but not necessary, as we expect to be able to beg/borrow items from within the Steampunk Community.
Actors we have worked with before should indicate their interest and remind us of any skills or experience you think would be useful in this kind of environment. New performers may audition in person, by video (sent or posted online) or by some combination of these two methods. Please contact Wendy via e-mail at wendyz@rcn.com to arrange for or schedule an audition.
ALL AUDITIONS AND SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN TUESDAY MARCH 15th, 2011. All casting decisions will be made no later than April 1st. These deadlines are final, as this convention will be doing extensive pre-event publicity, and likenesses and descriptions of the Mystery Characters will be part of this campaign.
For those who do not have extensive performance experience, there are also opportunities available as ancillary characters, plot complications, or murder victims. No compensation would be available for these roles, and they would need to be paid attending members of Teslacon 2. Please indicate your interest to Wendy no later than May 1st, 2011.
