There will likely be spoilers for all 3 books so be warned.

I didn't buy the Mason's turnaround on 1st read but on second read it makes a little more sense.  I suspect that I flailed through the first read at sufficient speed to miss the subtleties.

WAAAAAAH BECKS!!!!!!  At least she got a good death scene.  And she got to kill a zombie grizzly bear.

I'm still not convinced that all the remote-manipulation and string-pulling from all the widely-separate scientists would have worked, but I'm willing to bear it for the sake of plot.

The ending felt a bit rushed to me - once they got on the plane it was all "Whee we're off to see the plot resolve!"  I would have liked to see a little less about the medical uses of slime mold and atmospheric road trip stuff and a bit more with Rick POV and slowing down that last section a bit.

Also, once again clone-Georgia was a bit too perceptive to be real for me, but again, hello this is fiction.  (The zombies might have been your first clue)

Poor beleaguered Mahir.  I suspect that there isn't enough tea in the entire Newsflesh universe to make up for what they put him through.

I'm not sure whether my favorite line from Shaun was "Wait, you can see her too?" or "Hey everyone - want to watch me wrestle a zombie moose?" .  I was happy to see that the quote from him was credited to "Hail to the King" rather than "Adaptive Immunities" - proof that he at least is somewhat healed.  He's having fun again poking things with sticks.  I also liked that the Georgia-in-his-head didn't just stop when clone-Georgia showed up.  That would have been a bit too convenient.

Your thoughts?

I also felt like the ending was a bit rushed, but I can excuse it because when Shit Goes Down, so to speak, things often happen very fast. It left me with a bit of the headspinny sense that I imagine several of the characters may also have had.

(I enjoyed the slime mold bit, but then again I just think slime mold is amazing.)

Regarding Georgia II...too perceptive? How? She is, after all, mostly Georgia Mason.

I LOVED "Wait, you can see her too?".

All in all, I think this was a highly satisfactory end to the series. It especially redeemed DEADLINE for me.

My spoilers post is here.

Also, hi. I'm Foxipher. :) Nice to meet you.

Well as usual and as weve discussed on FB or pm or somewhere Im with you on most opinions of mira's/Seanan's books i had less trouble with the mason's and totally agree about th whole puppetmaster and string pulling but i suspend disbelief "hey everyone-want to see me wrestle a zombie moose." was my fav line and no you are not alone the end did feel like it was quick marched a bit.. and yeah the atmospheric stuff could be a little less and a less hurried ending which dont get me wrong i love the texture of her stuff over all just for my taste slightly off on the balance at the end but maybe there was a "deadline"LOL or something
ohh yeah i dont think georgia II was too perceptive it worked for me and made sense.
