Moody moody mood

Saturday I stayed home on baby-watch for a while, then gave up and went to Celtic Fest at Grant Park. Whenever I am in town, I love to go, as it is one of the few opportunities I get to just go and dance. At faires, I usually have to play for others to dance. I have a piece of caligraphy on my wall which reads "Hug A Musician - They Never Get To Dance". So I wandered about for a while, then straight to the ceilidh tent. Scottish country-danced until I was feet-trippy and sticky (which was WAAAY sooner than I wanted it to be - I have been such a sofa-slug these past few weeks) Then I sat in the vocal tent and listened to Song of The Lakes. I will definitely be acquiring a few of their CDs when money comes around.
Then off to Ogilve station and out to the burbs for the house-swarming. Chelle gets a bit obsessive about party-planning, so it was judged the better course of valor not to show up until about an hour before party-time. But it ended up quite a fun evening. Everyone was told not to bring booze, as they had more than enough, so EVERYBODY brought food. Everything from fried chicken to homemade butterscotch pudding (which I am told was even nummier spiked with a little rum). Chelle made boozy-smoothies ("Wow - these are yummy....and my tongue stings now"), so I switched to white wine after a while. Ari called in mid-party with baby-news, and I scribbled Breena's vital statistics on a handy paper napkin, then ran down to the basement and chased the computer-gamers off long enough to post the news. Mostly just sitting arund talking, though we did look through some of Chelle's catalogues [she has a home-party sex-toy business ]so the conversation was interspersed with "Ok, so what are you supposed to do with THAT?" and "Eww - it looks like a little bunny rabbit. That's just plain wrong...".
We all became pumpkin-shaped about 1-ish. Poor Rob - after all his liver issues, perhaps he shoudl have eased back into drinking like he used to. But after a good breakfast and some minor clean-up, we all went to see "Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow". It's not "Great Art", but any means, but it was fun escapist entertainment. Then dinner @ Subway and the train back home.
Turns out that I must have forgotten to take my 10-ride ticket with me when I got off the train on Friday, so I found myself on a Metra train with no ticket and $1.83 in my wallet! So I buried myself in my book, and thought very small and invisible thoughts all the way into the city, and no one ever asked for my ticket. Whew! I had my CTA pass with me, so I got home, but there was somebody in the western suburbs who got a lovely 6-ride ticket for free on Friday.
I had much fun over the weekend - why am I so grumpy? Meh.

Spoke to roomie yesterday and everything is a go for the 3rd/4th. Gentle reminder that this is a household of bachelor males. Therefore, while I will do my best to chivy both of my roommates into cleaning the place up a bit and not to leave their stuff lying all over the house I will also issue a fair warning that things may not reach that ideal. I will at least work to ensure that the 4th bedroom -- used as a computer room -- has all of my roomies stuff confined to the closet and not scattered across the floor as is typical. And I will ensure that at least my bathroom has nothing funky growing in the corners.
Looking forward to seeing you!

Date: 2004-09-20 10:09 am (UTC)That's what I'm working on. Since all three can and have been problems at one time or another. Trip hazards especially since my roomie Edward (the one who actually owns the place) has the habit of spreading his stuff all over the place. Ever see rooms that you couldn't see the carpet? That's the rooms that Ed controls. Papers, magazines, sometimes clothing, and other miscellaneous crap.
I'm guessing . . .
