I'm tired of being cold
Apr. 19th, 2007 10:17 amSpring in Chicago is usually a damp nasty business, but it's a bit more annoying than usual this year.
1) I'm getting old and fat, and my knees are less and less happy about this combined with the cold damp weather
2) I traded in my oldsauna apartment for one that is larger and nicer but rather stingy with the heat.
When it was full-on winter and my apartment was colder than the CLTO requires I bitched. But now when the weather forecast keeps tantilizing us with these glimpses of 70s it seems silly to call. So I'm trying to tough it out. But when I get home and it's 63 in my living room, "toughing it out" consists of huddling under blankies on the couch and watching TV.
Pepper doesn't care - she has a fur coat! But I have 2 comforters on my bed (more than I've needed in YEARS) and I've been lighting every candle I own in the evening.
Once the end-of-season sales start, I'm definitely picking up a space heater or two. This is silly.
And of course it's 85 in my office, so I have a huge fan behind my chair and sip cold drinks all day. If I dress for home I sweat all day and if I dress for the office I'm shivering when I brush my teeth.
No real point to all of this - just achy and whiny today. I've got a real thinky-post about the VA-Tech stuff a brewing but need to ponder a bit more about it first.
