Another exciting weekend
Apr. 22nd, 2007 09:56 pmWa hoo.
Friday night gaming - we had enough people to split up into smaller groups so I had quite a good time playing "Betrayal at House on the Hill" even though evil triumphed (boo), and a couple of rounds of "Goth-er Than Thou", a bit of snarky fun that I sucked at but had fun nonetheless.
Saturday I had another volunteer event with I-Go. This weeks event was GreenFest Chicago, which was a LOT more interesting that last week's event. I still got 2 hours driving credit but i also got admission to the festival which netted me a nice bag full of samples (I made the rounds both before my shift and then afterwards in a different shirt) of organic and natural stuff - soaps, lotions, shampoos & conditioners, face-goo of various sorts, vitamins, insect repellant, compact flourescent bulbs, dishwasher powder and laundry detergent and probably a couple of others I forgot. All this, yoga classes AND driving credit - where do I sign up again?
Much of the rest of the weekend alternated between napping and cleaning. It was FINALLY above 70, which allowed me to open the windows to help blow away the clouds of bunny fur that appeared every time I moved a piece of furniture. Most of my little windowbox lettuce garden seems to be starting up well, except for one box that just looks spindly no matter where I move it to. I may just feed the sprouts to Pepper and then dump it and start over.
Rehearsals are proceeding slowly yet interestingly. We're still working on developing our sound. I am working to overcome my overwhelming fondness for long depressing ballads but not being very successful at it. We have a couple of instrumentals that sound really good - another gypsy piece that Andrea refers to as "The Hungarian 'Orange Blosson Special'", and a couple of other pairs of dance tunes that sound nice and full. It's rather humbling to be relagated to percussion again. I'm a decent instrumentalist, but Andrea and
woody_whistler are waaay out of my league. I'll just sit over here and bang on things for a while....
Evening of TV and laundry, and trying to decide if I wanna color my hair tonight or tomorrow. Yeah I know. important and life-altering decisions.
BTW - tomorrow HEROES IS BACK!!! (yay)
