Marcon just asked me to be a Masquerade judge!

I'm already doing 4 slots worth of panels when I'm only required to do 3. (Since Iron Costumer is a 2-slot event it counts as two panels).

I told them that I'd do it if they pulled me off the Sunday "So You Wanna Be A Pro" panel, which is the one I'm least excited about.

EDIT: OK - I'm off the Sunday panel, and set as a Masquerade judge. BTW - I like chocolate and hard cider....

Cool!

See? They recognize your talent. 8-)

GenCon wants judges to work 32 hours to get a room and badge.

Gencon is longer than a weekend.

Most conventions want 3 panel slots for a free membership and green room access. Usually, judging a masquerade counts as one slot. Most cons don't offer rooms to panelists, though some may let you crash in the Gopher Hole.

I've been a masquerade judge at 2 Duckons, a Windycon, a ComGlomeration, and a Tardis.

It's gone up from 4 games to 8. And they told us this AFTER we registered our events. And then they managed to screw THAT up.

What, and pass up the opportunity to do a panel with Mad Mike?!

Now I really wish I was going...

There are a lot of things I would (and have) passed up doing with Mad Mike....

none really - just that Mike has always been a capacious drunk and a cheerful lech and I've known him for close to 15 years.

I recall that at one point (when I was much younger and slimmer) he was trying to get together funding for a Women of Fandom cheesecake calendar, and he was polling people as to who should be in it. I was flattered that I "made the cut" but a little peeved that he didn't ask me if I minded first. Luckily, nothing ever came of it.

*practices writing "presentation a bit long - try editing for impact" 30000 times*

I've judged at Windy, Duck, Tardis, and Conglom before. The Marcon Masquerade has withered a bit while I was gone for 4 years or so. Plus, it's up against CostumeCon in Des Moines, so it's been a tough draw.
