I called in sick yesterday. I started feeling sick to my stomach around 10AM on Tuesday, but by early morning yesterday I was very nauseated and had stomach cramps. I called in around 7 and told them I was taking meds and going back to bed. Then I fell asleep on the couch, and did not wake until 1:30.

Because I did not call back after 9 I was written up and am suspended for 2 days. Franky, one day is awesome, because I still feel like crap and haven't eaten anything more substantial than oatmeal. The second day is just annoying - their answer to being inconvenienced because I am not there is not hot have me there for 2 days? Whatever...

So I'm going to start looking for a job again. I'm bloody tired of this crap.

There are some company policies I just don't get. You called in once, why should you have to call in a second time?

Good luck with the job hunt. I understand about stupid corporate policies. I have been trying to get my company (a computer leasing company)to "officially" sell Dell products for the last six months. During those six months, we purchased over $1 million worth of Dell equipment. Needless to say, the company does not want to "officially" sell Dell. Go figure...

Argh, I hate that BS! It never fails to encourage resentment. I wonder what they'll have to say about people not being able to make it in to the office on Monday, if the CTA goes through with their walkout.

I've never understood why companies want sick people to come to work. You would think they'd learn what that means - at a minimum, people doing subpar work, and frequently, making other people absent or doing subpar work as well.

Remember I work retail

I work retail. That is important for my current company BS. They are cutting hours. Yes, Shopko has decided to cut hours between Thanksgiving and Christmas. What makes even less sence, is that they hired a bunch of seasonal workers just before Thanksgiving. So now there are less hours for more people to share. Explain that one.

My sympathies at having to find out the hard way that the company you work for doesn't treat their employees like adults. I worked at a place like that for a while.

As much as I bitch and groan about my job, the company does have the most flexible scheduling policies of anyplace I've seen -- and that makes up for a lot.

BTW...emailed you on a job opening.

Oh honey...

I am sorry. Somebody is a little unnaturally fond of the HR handbook if you ask me. Corporate-think is definitely outstripping common sense in this situation.

Good luck with the job hunt.

That's just stupid - both the must call in after 9 and the 2 days suspended
